Thank You in Cursive

Thank you is probably the phrase most often written by hand, on cards, gift tags and notes, which makes it the one people most want to get right. It is short, but it is not simple: the capital T does not connect, the h is a tall loop, the k has its knot, and you opens with the y's descender. Below, the phrase is written out on ruled lines along with the common variations, each with a note on where the hand tends to hesitate, and there is a practice sheet at the end.

Capital T: write the curled top and the stem, then lift the pen. h-a-n-k is one continuous stroke; the k's knot sits at the midline. Cross nothing, dot nothing — but you opens with a y loop below the line.

Adds s-o and m-u-c-h. The o is a bridge letter, so the space after it is shorter than it looks; the c-h join is a tail rising straight into a tall loop.

The same word with an s on the end: after the k's knot, the s must stay short — no taller than the midline.

very has the bridge letter v: the e after it starts at the midline, and the y loops below the baseline.

Capital M connects, so Many is one stroke. Lowercase thanks starts with a t — write it, then add the crossbar last.

How do you write thank you in cursive?

Write the capital T (a curled top stroke and a slanted stem), lift the pen, then write h-a-n-k in one continuous stroke: a tall loop for h, an oval for a, a hump for n and the knotted k. Leave a space, then write y-o-u: the y loops below the line, the o is a bridge letter, and u finishes with a tail.

Is the T in thank you connected to the h?

No. Capital T is one of the capitals that does not join the letter after it — B, D, F, I, O, P, S, T, V, W and X all end with a curl, a loop or a bar rather than a tail. Write the T, lift the pen, and start the h on the baseline just to its right.

Should thank you be one word or two in cursive?

Two words, as in print: thank you. The space between them is a normal word space. Writing it as one joined word is a common beginner habit because the pen wants to keep going, so practise lifting after the k.
