Days of the Week in Cursive
The days of the week are the first real words most people write in cursive, because they turn up on every worksheet, diary page and letter heading. Every one of them starts with a capital, so they are also a good first look at how a capital hands off to the lowercase letters that follow. Each day is written out below on ruled lines, with the letter joins worth watching, and there is a practice sheet at the end that fits all seven on one page.
Written out, one by one
Monday
Capital M connects, so the whole word is one stroke. Watch the o: it is a bridge letter, so the n after it starts from the midline.
Tuesday
Capital T does not connect — lift the pen after it and start the u fresh. The s in the middle is the one to slow down on.
Wednesday
Capital W does not connect either. The d rises to a retraced stem, and the y ends the word with a loop below the line.
Thursday
Another T, so another lift. h is a tall loop followed by a hump; r has its little shoulder; y loops below.
Friday
Capital F is a T with a crossbar — write the stem, then add the bar, then lift: F does not join the r. The i is dotted after the word is finished.
Saturday
Capital S ends with a curl and does not connect. Two t's here: write the word, then cross both in one pass.
Sunday
The same S, then a u-n pair — the undercurve of u against the overcurve of n is a good test of both.

Are the days of the week capitalised in cursive?
Yes, exactly as in print: Monday, Tuesday and the rest always begin with a capital letter. In cursive that matters because Monday is the only one whose capital carries straight on: M joins the letter after it, while T, W, F and S all end without an exit stroke, so on the other six days the pen lifts after the capital before the lowercase part of the word begins.
Which day of the week is hardest to write in cursive?
Wednesday, for most learners. It is the longest, it has the capital W (which does not connect), a d with a retraced stem, an s and a y with a descender loop — most of the alphabet's trouble spots in one word. Thursday is next, because of the h-u-r-s run.
How do I practise writing the days in cursive?
